The story of Joe is a fun one. While on vacation with friends in Las Vegas for the NFR in Dec 2006, Dale convinced Rus to attend a horse sale! Upon walking in to the sale, Dale spotted Joe Blue Hancock- aka “Joe”. The bidding began and Dale’s dreams came true upon the final bidding, Joe was theirs! Joe had been a team roping horse so loping left was no problem. However, loping right …that was a big problem. Through years of hard work Dale has shaped Joe into a soft and supple horse able to do amazing maneuvers. Joe is a go to horse for Cowboy Dressage demos and tests. He always attracts fans, many who have a hard time believing he’s an American Quarter Horse and not a warmblood. Joe’s dependable, quiet, sweet and kind personality makes him a favorite at the barn. He was a finalist in ACTHA’s America’s Favorite Trail Horse. With WSH he’s been to the beach, the mountains, cattle drives, as well as horseshows, showing both hunt seat and western. Although this horse is a giant massive gelding, he’s very gentle and helps develop confidence in our students.
