Nugget is a newer addition to the Western Sky family, but we have known him for quite some time. Until Western Sky bought him in 2018, Nugget was owned by Dale’s brother for many years. Dale always knew of Nugget and had put some training rides on him years ago and knew him to be a kind and steady horse.

Much like many horses who have joined Western Sky after their initial education, Nugget did not know anything about groundwork when he joined Western Sky, but due to his willing nature and eagerness to please, he has quickly become a star lesson horse. He has a very positive attitude! Many students have found him to be a rewarding horse to work with, as he learns quickly and tries very hard to do everything he is asked. We have recently started using him for lead-line lessons, and like everything, he takes it in stride and always does his best.

His kind spirit extends towards his human friends, and to his horse friends as well. Out in pasture, Nugget is good friends with everyone. He is kind and polite, and never makes a cranky face towards any other horse. He sincerely wants to get along with whoever he is around. This is especially true with his younger half-brother, “Chip”, who has been owned by Western Sky for many years. When Dale brought Nugget home and he was reunited with his half-brother, everyone could see the joy on both brothers’ faces! Nugget loves spending time with Chip, and he loves being groomed and scratched by his human friends.  He makes hilarious faces when his riders itch just the right spot!
